Additions, not replacements

For those who still prefer one of the previously introduced, perhaps less blingy models, never fear! Omega still has the Speedmaster 38 “Cappuccino” versions and the black-dial steel model in the catalog, among others. The black-dial model has some Speedmaster “Reduced” looks but with more modern watchmaking tech. Measuring 38mm wide, 44.9mm long, and 14.7mm thick, the Omega replica watches for sale is often seen as a smaller alternative to the 42mm Speedmaster Professional.

Price and availability

Before they’re fitted inside the case, they are certified as chronometers by COSC. But also after assembly, they endure rigorous tests by METAS. With the pulsometer, you start the chronograph and count to 30 heartbeats. Then, you stop the chronograph and read your pulse (in beats per minute) off of the dial.

With the final scale, the telemeter, you can, for example, measure how far lightning is away from you. When you see the flash, you start the chronograph. Then, when you hear the rumbling, you stop the time and know how far away it is. As RJ said before: “Its gradation is based on the speed of sound, which is 343 meters per second.”

Final words

After the very nice steel and Moonshine Gold Omega Seamaster 300M Paris 2024 Edition, I feel these Speedmaster Chronoscopes also came out great. The classic panda-dial design with the vintage-inspired scales and the Arabic numerals works great. If I had to choose, though, I still think I would go for the Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch. But if you’re looking for a remarkable keepsake from the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, these Omega Speedmaster Chronoscopes are certainly worth a closer look. According to Omega, the dial color is inspired by the white suits of the astronauts that were used during extravehicular activity (EVA), and the red “Speedmaster” printing is supposedly a nod to the protective case of the Alaska Project. While these are nice references to create a cohesive marketing story, they likely won’t win people over on their strength alone. Its printed matte dial, white detailing, and acrylic crystal combine to form perfection. When I say it like that, perhaps the image of a semi-rough-and-ready Moonwatch is so imprinted on my brain that the white version never had a fighting chance in the battle for Speedmaster supremacy. Plus, let’s address the elephant in the room. This is the Moonwatch.

Making a choice

When my podcast co-host Balazs recently visited the Miami Omega boutique, he asked the sales manager if he thought that the white Moonwatch would serve as first Omega Speedmaster fake watches for men or a second, and he received an interesting reply. After some thought, the manager felt that it would be more popular as an addition to an existing collection of Speedmasters. I think that’s appropriate, and it’s consistent with my feelings too.
